OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College men’s basketball team ended their weekend with a come-from-behind 93-85 win over Washburn University JV. That victory came after a narrow 68-62 loss to John Wood Community College Friday evening.

Freshman forward Xavier Womack had a breakout game against the Ichobods, setting new career highs with 30 points and 16 rebounds. Womack hit 11-of-16 shots, including a 3-pointer, and was 7-of-8 at the free throw line.

Freshman guard Berlin Roberson provided spark off the bench as well, finishing with 24 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.  Sophomore guard Anthony Lupardus and freshman guard General Williams also finished in double figures with 12 and 10 points respectively.

The Cavaliers trailed by nine at the half, 45-34, but outscored Washburn 59-40 in the second half to pull out the win.

On Friday night, Johnson County had a late lead over John Wood but were not able to hold on.

Womack and Lupardus paced the Cavaliers each scoring 14 points. Sophomores Marquawn Wilson and Mat Baldeh each contributed 10 points.

Johnson County (3-9) will close out the first half of the season with three road games beginning Wednesday, Dec. 6 at North Central Missouri College, followed by State Fair Community College on Dec. 9 and MCC-Penn Valley on Dec. 14.
