M. Soccer - Cavaliers snap four-match skid

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College men’s soccer team snapped a four-match losing streak Saturday afternoon, topping Jefferson College 4-1 at the JCCC soccer pitch.

Eloy Flores have the Cavaliers an early 1-0 lead scoring off a corner kick play from Chance Beckham in the 24 minute.

Flores helped the Cavaliers go up 2-nil in the 59th minute when he fed Derrick McClanahan for a score. That would prove to be the winning score.

Luis Herrera and Dexter Virgo added two more goals in the 70th and 71st minutes to put the game away. Jason Wolf had the assist on Herrara’s goal, and McClanahan fed Virgo on his goal.

Jefferson did manage a late score in the 76th minute ending a shutout opportunity for JCCC goalkeeper Luis Alanis. He finished with six saves.

Johnson County returns to the pitch Saturday, Sept. 16, when they host Southwestern Illinois College at 3 p.m.
