W. Basketball-First two teams qualify for the national tournament

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Two teams have punched their tickets to the campus of Johnson County Community College, host of the 2014 NJCAA Women’s Division II Basketball Tournament, March 18-22. Chesapeake College of Wye Mill, Md., and Mercyhurst North East of North East, Pa., earned a spot by winning their respective District Championships.  There are still 14 more district winners to be determined. 

Chesapeake (23-3) defeated Garrett, 88-61 to win the District K title. Mercyhurst North East (18-10) topped Jamestown, 66-59 to capture the District C championship. 

This is the third straight appearance for Chesapeake, and the second time Mercyhurst North East has qualified for the tournament.
