W. Basketball – Hutt named NJCAA D-II Player of the Week

Kariel HuttOVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore forward Kariel Hutt has been named the NJCAA D-II Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games Jan. 27 through Feb. 2. She was also selected as the KJCCC Women’s D-II Player of the Week, her third conference POW this season.

Hutt averaged 12.5 points and 18 rebounds in JCCC’s two games last week. In a tough loss to No. 5 Highland, Hutt controlled the defensive glass, hauling down 13 of her game-high 15 rebounds on the defensive end. She followed with a dominating effort in a 51-point win at Fort Scott. Hutt was a perfect 10-for-10 from the field and finished with a double-double of 22 points and a career-high 31 rebounds. She also had four assists and three blocks.

For the season, Hutt is averaging 8.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, which ranks 19th in the country.
