Wild Kingdom ambassador

Wild Kingdom ambassador takes audience on wilderness trip 

Peter GrosOVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Mutual of Omaha's special Wild Kingdom ambassador will share his love of wildlife and the wilderness when he appears in Yardley Hall at 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10.

Tickets are $30 and $20 for adults and $15 and $10 for youth. They can be purchased through the college box office at 913-469-4445 or online at jccc.edu/TheSeries.

Peter Gros, a wildlife expert, will share tales from the animal kingdom and take the audience on a few of his wild travel experiences as he shows a mix of video clips and bloopers.

Gros also will acquaint the audience (sometimes up-close and personal) with friendly live exotic animals.

Gros was co-host of the original Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom television show and was featured in two Wild Kingdom shows on the Animal Planet network: Cheetah: Race Against Time in 2005 and Magnificent Moments in 2007.

Peter Gros and tigerGros has nearly 30 years of field experience with captive wildlife, including establishing breeding and rehabilitation programs for endangered species and birds of prey.

Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom premiered on television on Jan. 6, 1963, with host Marlin Perkins. The show took viewers to the far corners of the world and studied wild animals in their natural habitats.

The program pioneered the narrated nature adventure genre, which uses a knowledgeable host and field correspondents to guide viewers through close encounters with wildlife and wilderness. For 50 years, Wild Kingdom hosts, including Gros, have added their unique personalities and commentary to the action.
