W. Soccer – JCCC impressive during Chicago trip

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The 19th ranked Johnson County Community College women’s soccer team posted two blowout victories in Chicago last weekend, and improved to 7-1-0 on the season.  JCCC began the trip with a 7-0 victory over College of DuPage, and capped the trip with a 5-0 shutout over Dakota County Technical College. 

Freshman forward Courtney Hughes had an impressive weekend series. She scored JCCC’s first three goals against DuPage, and provided the assist on the seventh goal. In the win over Dakota County Tech, she added two more scores, upping her season total to a team-best 14 goals. She also leads in total points with 32. 

JCCC also got several other key performances over the weekend. Freshman Shayna Thomas had goal and two assists against DuPage. Sophomore Christy Tran had three assists, and freshman Carissa Kemnitz netted two goals against Dakota County Tech.
