W. Soccer – JCCC downs Indy 9-0

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College women’s soccer team, ranked 16th in the first regular season poll of the year, walloped Independence Community College Tuesday afternoon, 9-0.

Sophomores Kelsey Wakefield and Christy Tran each recorded a hat trick, and freshman Brooklyn Meinke was credited with three assists.

Wakefield got the scoring barrage started with her first of three goals just 42 seconds after the opening whistle. Just over a minute late, Tran netted her first of three.

JCCC improves to 4-1-0 on the season, and stand 3-0-0 and tied with Hutchinson in the Jayhawk Conference standings.  JCCC travels to El Dorado Saturday, Sept. 14, for a conference match against Cowley, and to Chicago the following weekend for matches against DuPage and Dakota County Tech.
