W. Soccer – Hughes’ hat trick powers JCCC to victory

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College freshman midfielder Courtney Hughes scored three of her team’s goals to lead the Lady Cavaliers to a 5-0 road win over Kansas City Kansas Community College, Aug. 28. 

Hughes scored her first goal in 12th minute, and three minutes later she netted a second goal. She completed the hat trick in the 55th minute to give JCCC a 4-0 lead. 

Johnson County also had goals scored by freshman Katie Metscher and sophomore Christy Tran. Metscher also had one assist, sophomore Katie Blevins was credited with two assists. 

JCCC’s next three games will be at home beginning with Southwestern Illinois Sept. 6 at 6 p.m., followed by St. Louis Community College Sept. 7 at 3 p.m., and Independence Community College Sept. 10 at 2 p.m.
