W. Basketball – JCCC reaches 700 all-time wins

OVERLAND PARK, KS – The No. 2 ranked Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team defeated cross-town rival Kansas City Kansas, 67-33, Wednesday night at the KCKCC Fieldhouse. The victory was JCCC’s 700th in the program’s 38-year history. 

The Lady Cavaliers (22-1, 11-1) had three players finish in double figures scoring. Sophomore guard DaShawn Harden led Johnson County with 15 points, hitting 6-of-12 shots, including a three-pointer. Freshman guard Timeka O’Neal followed with 12 points, and freshman guard Juanita Robinson added 10 points, seven rebounds and five assists. 

Head coach Ben Conrad also got solid efforts from freshman forward Kariel Hutt (14 rebounds, 5 points), freshman forward Camille Gee (9 points), freshman guard Sameia Kendall (8 points) freshman forward Samantha Short (7 rebounds, 2 points) and sophomore forward Kathleen Brisbane (5 points, 5 rebounds). 

The Lady Cavaliers travel to Arkansas City, Kan., Saturday night for a showdown with Cowley College (20-3, 10-1). The winner will take over sole possession of first place in the conference race. Johnson County defeated Cowley earlier this season, 62-52.
