W. Basketball – JCCC moves to No. 2 then blasts Hesston

Kariel HuttOVERLAND PARK, KS – On Wednesday afternoon, the Johnson County Community College women’s basketball program moved to No. 2 in the NJCAA D-II coaches poll, and later that evening they blasted Hesston College, 85-38, to move their homecourt winning streak to 32 games. 

Freshman Kariel Hutt posted a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Lady Cavaliers (18-1), her third of the season. She hit 6-of-8 from the field, and made her one free throw attempt. She also blocked two shots. 

Freshman Camille Gee matched Hutt’s’ 13-point effort, also hitting 6-of-8 shots with a free throw. She also was credited with four rebounds and three assists. 

Freshmen guard Timeka O’Neal and Sameia Kendall also reached double figures scoring, finishing with 12 and 11 respectively. 

Johnson County shot 50 percent from the field, and improved to 37-0 all-time against the Lady Larks.
