W. Basketball – No. 3 JCCC posts two blowout wins

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 3 ranked Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team improved to a perfect 6-0 with a pair of blowout victories last week. They handed Central Methodist JV a 68-point loss on Wednesday, and followed with a 66-point win over William Penn JV on Sunday. The victories also upped JCCC’s home court winning streak to 40 straight. 

Sophomore guard Sameia Kendall set a new career high with 22 points in the 111-43 win over Central Methodist, and followed by setting another new career mark with 29 in the 110-44 win over William Penn.  In her 29-point effort, Kendall also set a personal game high knocking down five 3-pointers. 

Sophomore point guard Timeka O’Neal also had a big week. She had a double-double of 20 points and 10 assists in the first win, and followed with 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the second victory. 

Against Central Methodist, Johnson County also got key production from sophomore guard Juanita Robinson (17 points, 9 rebounds), sophomore guard Taylor McDowell (16 points), sophomore forward Kariel Hutt (8 points, 10 rebounds), freshman forward Allison Wallisch (3 points, 10 rebounds), freshman guard Kelsey Barrett (9 points) and freshman forward Nieka Wheeler (6 points, 6 rebounds). 

In the William Penn victory, JCCC again got top efforts from Robinson (10 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists), Hutt (12 points, 7 rebounds), Barrett (12 points, 7 rebounds), Wheeler (9 points, 8 rebounds), Wallisch (6 points, 6 rebounds) and sophomore guard Camille Gee (9 points, 3 rebounds). 

The Lady Cavaliers travel to Sedalia, Mo., Wednesday night, Nov. 20, to face State Fair Community College, then return home to host Southeast Community College, Saturday afternoon, Nov. 23.
