W. Basketball – JCCC is perfect through four

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The No. 3 ranked Johnson County Community College women’s basketball team is off to a hot start. The Lady Cavaliers are 4-0, and have held their opponents to an average of 38 points per game. 

Over the weekend at the Kansas City Kansas Classic, Johnson County posted a 46-point win over Neosho County, and a 43-point win over Benedictine College JV. 

Freshman guard Nieka Wheeler led JCCC with 22 points and 10 rebounds against Neosho County, and followed with a 14-point, six-rebound effort in the win over Benedictine. 

Sophomores Kariel Hutt, Sameia Kendall and Juanita Robinson also finished in double figures scoring against Neosho. Hutt and Kendell each poured in 12, and Robinson added 10. Hutt also recorded eight rebounds, and Robinson hauled down nine. 

Kendall matched Wheeler’s 14-point performance against Benedictine, and sophomore guard Timeka O’Neal finished with 12 points and five assists. 

The Lady Cavaliers will play at home for the first time this season, Wednesday, Nov. 13, against Central Methodist University JV. They will also be looking to extend their home court winning streak to 39 straight.
