W. Basketball – Harden earns conference player of the week

DaShawn HardenOVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore guard DaShawn Harden has been selected co-KJCCC/Verizon Wireless Player of the Week for week 12. She shared the honor with Faviana Monte of Seward County.

Harden, formerly of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, averaged 19.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while leading the No. 2 Lady Cavaliers to a pair of road win the East Jayhawk Conference. She began the week scoring a team high 13 points in a  67-33 win at Kansas City Kansas, and capped the week with 25 points in a 71-51 win at Cowley, moving Johnson County into sole possession of first place in the conference standings.

Harden hit 55 percent form the field on the week, including 42 percent from 3-point range. She also only missed one of her eight free throw attempts. For the season, Harden is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 13.5 points per game, leading JCCC to a 23-1 mark.
