Soccer – Lady Cavs blank Pratt, men win 5-2

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College soccer teams each posted wins over Pratt Community College, Tuesday afternoon at the JCCC soccer complex. The Lady Cavaliers blanked Pratt 4-0, giving JCCC its seventh shutout in nine games this season. The men scored three late goals to pull away for a 5-2 and their sixth victory of the season. 

Freshmen Brooklyn Meinke and Courtney Hughes powered the Lady Cavaliers to the win, each netting two goals. Hughes upped her team-leading goal total to 16 on the season. 

Freshman Katie Metscher was credited with two assists, and freshmen Carissa Kemnitz and Shayna Thomas each had one. 

For the men, freshman Jorge Rivero, a three-time KJCCC/Verizon Wireless Player of the Week this season, powered the Cavaliers offense. He played a part in four of JCCC’s five goals with two goals and two assists.  He now has 10 goals and seven assists on the season, giving him a point total of 27. 

Sophomore Dylan Wagenbaur scored the other goal in the 46th minute. His goal broke a 2-2 tie, and secure the lead for JCCC.
