Track – Raynor breaks discus record at KT Woodman Classic

Caniggia RaynorOVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore thrower Caniggia Raynor continued to make history after he shattered the school record in the discus while competing at the KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State University, last weekend.

Raynor posted a new record toss of 181-7 (55.34m), breaking a 13-year old record held by John McGinty by 4-feet, 4-inches. He captured first place in the event, defeating the field by nearly eight feet.

Raynor also won the hammer throw with a mark of 185-2 (56.43m).  Last week, Raynor set a school record at the Emporia State Relays, with a mark of 186-7, breaking a 20-year record.

Marquel Nickens raced to a second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 53.96.

Hayes Grissom set a season best in the javelin. His throw of 212-7 (64.80m) earned him a third place finish.

In the women’s javelin, Maddie Osmundson launched a throw of 138-0 (10.17m) to place second.

Jalisa Brice placed fourth in the triple jump with a personal best jump of 39-3 (11.96m). That effort moved into the top five on JCCC’s all-time performer’s list at JCCC.

Monet Jackson, national indoor champion in the weight throw, recorded a personal best mark in the hammer. Her effort of 153-10 (46.90m) placed her sixth.
