M. Track – Raynor leads JCCC track at outdoor nationals

2013 NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships logoOVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Sophomore thrower Caniggia Raynor capped an amazing season by recording a pair of second place finishes at the NJCAA Outdoor Track Championships. On the first day, Raynor placed second in the hammer with a school record throw of 196-1. He added his another runner-up national finish a day later in the discus. 

Sophomore sprinter Mark Sitek earned Coaches All-American in the 200-meters with his 5th place effort. In the preliminary round, Sitek posted the third fastest time in school history at 20.88. 

Sophomore Hayes Grissom registered a fourth place finish in the javelin and was awarded Coaches All-American, and the Cavaliers 4x800 relay team garnered Coaches All-American by finishing seventh overall. They also posted the fourth fastest time in school history. The four members of the relay team were Nickson Baselle, Huns Pitia, Peter Vukas and Kamp Wiebe. 

Overall, the Cavaliers finished tied for 12th in the team standings with 29 points.
