M. Tennis – Cavaliers finish 11th at Nationals

2013 Men's National Tennis Championships logoOVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College men’s tennis team came away with an 11th place finish at the D-I Championships in Plano, Texas, last week. 

Sophomore Oliver Nimmegeers advanced the furthest in the championship, reaching the quarterfinal round in the No. 4 singles bracket. 

Spartak Rahachou (No. 1), Daniel De Zamacona (No. 2), Pedro Garcia (No. 3) and Michael Draper (No. 6) all reached the round of 16. Joe Rustemeyer (No. 5) lost his first round match, but he fought back to finished runner-up in the consolation bracket. 

In doubles play, Nimmegeers and teammate Andrew Konetzni reached the semifinal round at No. 3 doubles before falling to the eventual national champion. The No. 1 and No. 2 teams each finished 1-1, advancing to the round of 16.
