M. Soccer – Rivero earns second NJCAA POW honor

Jorge RiveroOVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College freshman forward Jorge Rivero continues to pile up the accolades this season. Today, the NJCAA named him the men’s soccer Division I Player for the Week for final week of the season. Rivero also earned national Player of the Week honors in week six. He also was selected the KJCCC/Verizon Wireless Player of the Week for the fifth time this year. 

Rivero scored two goals, including the game-winner, in the Cavaliers 4-1 win over Allen Community College in the first round of the Region VI playoffs.  Johnson County will take on Coffeyville Community College in the semifinals Thursday, Nov. 7, at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. 

Rivero leads JCCC in points (43), goals scored (18) and game-winning goals (3). He also ranks 14th in points, and 13th in goals scored in the NJCAA standings.
