M. Soccer – Cavaliers post 4-1 win over Indy

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – After giving up an easy early goal to Independence Community College, the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers settled in and eventually pulled out a 4-1 victory over the Pirates.

Brian Castaneda fired a shot past JCCC sophomore goalie Guillermo Aguilar in the eighth minute to give Indy the early lead, but JCCC sophomore Jake Walter tied with his first goal of the season in the 23rd minute, and freshman Johanes Reiber gave the Cavaliers the lead for good in the 38th minute with his first goal.

Walter added a second goal in the 57th minute, and two-time KJCCC/Verizon Wireless Player of the Week pick Jorge Rivero closed out the scoring with his team-high five goal in the 62nd minute.

Johnson County travels to El Dorado to face Cowley in a conference showdown, Saturday, Sept. 14, and then goes across town to face MCC-Maple Woods on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The Cavaliers return home, Tuesday, Sept. 24, to host Pratt.
