M. Soccer – Cavaliers hand Maple Woods first loss

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College men’s soccer team traveled across town to face nationally ranked and unbeaten MCC-Maple Woods, Wednesday, Sept. 18, and came away with an impressive 5-2 victory. 

Five different players scored for the Cavaliers, and the defense held Maple Woods to just five shots on goal.  

JCCC came out strong, scoring three goals in the first 28 minutes. Sophomore Zack Wustefeld started the scoring in the 15th minute, netting his second goal of the season off a feed from freshman Bryce McClanahan, his first of two assists. Thirty-eight seconds later sophomore Jake Walter made it two-nil Johnson County. 

In the 28th minute, sophomore Dylan Wagenbaur game 3-0 with his second goal of the season. His goal proved to be the game-winner. 

In the second half, JCCC added two more goals from sophomore Jorge Rivero, a three-time conference player of the week selection this year, and freshman Anthony Richardson.
