W. Soccer – Hughes nets four in win over Garden City

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College freshman midfielder Courtney Hughes scored four first half goals, and assisted another, to power the No. 16th ranked Lady Cavaliers to a 7-2 home win over Garden City, Wednesday afternoon.

Hughes scored in the third, 10th, 16th and 43rd minutes of the first half, and assisted sophomore Jenn Howell’s goal in the 15th minute, which proved to be the game winner.  This was Hughes’ third hat trick this season, which is just one shy of the season record. Overall, she has 21 goals and five assists for 47 points.  He 21 goals tie for sixth most in the country, and her 47 points tie for eighth nationally.

Freshman Brooklyn Meinke provided the other two scores for Johnson County, finding the back of the net once in each half.

Deydi Depaz scored both goals for Garden City.
