M. Basketball – Hildebrandt reaches milestone in victory

Christian HildebrandtOVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Johnson County Community College sophomore guard Christian Hildebrandt needed 21 points to become the 11th player in team history to score 1,000 career points entering the game against Allen Community College, Wednesday night.  Hildebrandt finished with 23 and led the Cavaliers to a narrow one-point victory over the Devils, 58-57.

Hildebrandt hit 6-of 17 shots, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range, and was 8-of-11 at the free throw line.  He also contributed six rebounds and two assists.

Sophomore forward Myles Hibler and freshman guard Trevor Myers had key efforts for Johnson County. Hibler nearly had a double-double, finishing with 11 points and team-high nine rebounds.  Myers hit 4-of-6 shots, including three treys, and finished with 11 points. He also led the team with five assists.

DeAndrae Barnette and Andrew Roundtree led Allen with 16 and 15 respectively.

The Cavaliers end the regular season at 10-20 overall, but enter the Region VI D-II playoffs as the No. 3 seed. Johnson County will host Hesston College, Saturday, March 2, at 3 p.m. The winner will advance to play at Kansas City Kansas Community College, Wednesday night, March 6.
