CC – JCCC harriers ranked high in first poll

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The first Hill-N-Dale coaches poll for cross country was released today, and the Johnson County Community College women’s and men’s teams are ranked among the top five in the country.  The Lady Cavaliers hold down the No. 2 spot in the nation behind Iowa Central, and the JCCC men have are the No. 5 team nationally.

“I think it’s fantastic,” said head coach Mike Bloemker. “These athletes are working hard in practice and making a lot of improvement each week. This is going to be a great season. We just have to keep everyone healthy. If we can get through the regular season healthy, the postseason will be exciting.”

Both teams recently opened the 2013 season at the Maple Leaf Invitational, hosted by Baker University.  The JCCC men posted a runner-up finish behind Southwestern, while the women’s team place third behind Baker and Southwestern.
