Baseball – Cavaliers split with Panthers

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Johnson County Community College baseball team split a pair of games at Neosho County, Friday afternoon. Saturday games were rained out, and have been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 2.

In the first game, the Cavaliers failed to provide enough offense to defeat Neosho County despite Matt Blackham’s stellar six-inning performance on the hill. Blackham allowed just three hits and one unearned run, while striking out eighth Panthers. Neosho County managed to score the only run of the game in the bottom of the first inning.

In the second game, freshman Zach Isham powered the Cavaliers to a 4-3 victory. He went 3-for-3, with a triple, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored. His second run came in the top of the seventh inning, and proved to be the game-winner.

Sophomore Michael Yeager also ripped three hits, including a double, and drove in one run.

Sophomore right-hander Gage Jacobs picked up the win in relief. He allowed one run over 2.1 innings. He struck out three and surrendered one hit. Freshman reliever Derek Beier put the game away in the seventh with three out to earn the save.
