Johnson County Chorus celebrates 35th season with holiday concert

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Anita Cyrier will conduct the Johnson County Chorus as it celebrates its 35th season with “Starry Night,” a holiday choral concert, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in Yardley Hall of the Carlsen Center at Johnson County Community College.

The concert features music by Mozart as well as traditional holiday favorites and two works composed for the chorus by Eugene Butler in recognition of the anniversary and in celebration of its achievements. Butler is a nationally acclaimed composer and conductor who previously served as director of music at JCCC.

Guest artists are The Chalice Bronze, an award-winning hand bell choir from Raytown Christian Church.

The Choraliers, a select ensemble from the chorus, will present a preliminary concert of holiday favorites in the Carlsen Center lobby at 2:30 p.m. during a Brown &Gold Club reception.

The concert is free and open to the public.
