Sustainability speaker series

Sustainability speaker series covers beekeeping, Habitat for Humanity, solar energy

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Speakers on beekeeping, Habitat for Humanity and solar energy are featured in a Tuesday sustainability speaker series this fall at Johnson County Community College.

Each lecture runs from 1:30 to 3 p.m. in the M.R. and Evelyn Hudson Auditorium of the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art at JCCC, 12345 College Blvd., Overland Park.

The lectures are free and open to the public, but registration is required either online or by telephone at 913-469-2323 using the course registration number provided.

Speakers in the series are:

  • Sept. 11: Local beekeeper and beekeeping instructor Robert Hughes will discuss why bees are important for the environment. Enroll online or by telephone using course registration number 90935.
  • Sept. 25: Mark Naster, resource development coordinator for Heartland Habitat for Humanity, will describe how his organization helps the community by building homes, strengthening communities and fulfilling dreams. Enroll online or by telephone using course registration number 90937.
  • Oct. 2: Dan Eberle, JCCC assistant professor, energy performance and resource management, will provide an introduction into solar energy. Enroll online or by telephone using course registration number 90938.

The lecture series is sponsored by JCCC’s community services division.

Limited reserved parking will be available in the Regnier Center underground parking garage on the east side of campus.

No food or drink is allowed in the Hudson Auditorium.
