Center for Business and Technology wins training award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Kansas City chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (KC-ASTD) has awarded Johnson County Community College with its 2011 Best Practice Award in the design and development of a training program.

The award recognized the summer 2011 workforce development program that taught computer and business skills to 48 young adults with a goal of placing them in employment within 60 days.

The program was sponsored by Workforce Partnership. The 21-day camp was held at JCCC and at Kansas City Kansas Community College locations in Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties.

KC-ASTD's mission is to recognize and promote outstanding training and development in the Kansas City area. JCCC team members who worked on the award are Tony Lacy, Jennifer Winchester, Melissa Reiss and Cheryl Schmitz.
