W. Track – Bloemker selected NJCAA Outdoor Coach of the Year

Mike BloemkerOVERLAND PARK, KS – Johnson County Community College head track and field coach Mike Bloemker was recently named the NJCAA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year by the NJCAA Track and Field Coaches Association. 

Bloemker’s women’s program posted a fifth place finish in the team standings at the 2012 NJCAA Outdoor Championships, matching the program’s best finish all-time. Five athletes accounted for two NJCAA All-America honors, and nine Coaches All-America awards. 

Bloemker also help guide the women’s cross country and track teams to its first Region VI Triple Crown, winning the region titles in cross country, indoor and outdoor track. Bloemker was also named the Region VI Coach of the Meet at both the indoor and outdoor meets, and he coached the Female Athlete of the Meet at both championships. 

This fall, Bloemker will enter his 15th season as head coach of the JCCC cross country programs, and his fifth as head track coach.
