JCCC teams climb in the national polls
OVERLAND PARK, KS. – Both the Johnson County Community College volleyball and women’s soccer teams moved up the standings in the first regular season poll of the 2012 campaign. The volleyball team, ranked eighth in the preseason poll, moved up one spot to No 7, while the women’s soccer team leaping nine spots from 19 to 10.
The Lady Cavaliers volleyball program is off to an amazing start this season, winning nine of its first 10 matches, including five victories over nationally ranked programs. Last weekend at the Owens Tournament in Toledo, Ohio, JCCC went 3-1, with wins over No. 7 Parkland and No. 2 Oakland. Their only loss was to host Owens, the 15th ranked team at the time.
The women’s soccer team stands 2-1 on the season, and look to add to its win column this week with three road matches. JCCC travels to Garden City Wednesday, and to Belleville, Ill., this weekend to face Southwestern Illinois and Illinois Central.
