OVERLAND PARK, KS – JCCC freshman goalkeeper Guillermo Aguilar, formerly of Olathe North High School, was been selected the NJCAA Goalkeeper of the Week today. He also was selected the KJCCC/Verizon Wireless Goalkeeper of the Week. Aguilar becomes the third JCCC player to be selected as a national Player of the Week, and the first since Mark Saxby earned the honor in 2009.
Aguilar earned three victories for the Cavaliers last week, giving up only two goals in 240 minutes, saving 11 of 13 shots at his net. He earned his first collegiate shutout in a 3-0 win over Kishwaukee, Sunday afternoon.
Aguilar’s teammate, freshman forward Jake Walter, formerly of Free State High School, was named the KJCCC/Verizon Wireless Player of the Week. Walter led the Cavaliers offense last week, scoring five goals with an assist, helping JCCC to three straight road victories. He had two goals in a 7-1 win at MCC-Blue River. He scored the first goal in a 4-1 win at South Suburban, and netted the first and third goals in a 3-0 win over Kishwaukee.
