M. Soccer – JCCC posts three wins over the week

OVERLAND PARK, KS – The Johnson Count Community College men’s soccer rebounded from its season opening 3-0 loss to No. 1 Cloud County with three impressive road wins last week. JCCC posted a 7-1 win over MCC-Blue River Aug. 28, a 4-1 win over South Suburban Aug. 31, and a 3-0 shutout over Kishwaukee, Sept. 1.

Two key offensive players for JCCC were freshman forward Jake Walter (Lawrence, Kan.) and sophomore forward Luis Cadena (Shawnee Mission Northwest). Walter scored five goals and had one assist in the three matches. He had two goals against Blue River. He scored the first goal against South Suburban and the first and third goals against Kishwaukee.  Cadena recorded the first hat of the season, netting three goals against Blue River. He also scored once against South Suburban and had an assist against Kishwaukee.

Freshman goalkeeper Guillermo Aguilar was credited with all three victories for the week. He saved 11 of the 13 shots he faced, and earned his first collegiate shutout against Kishwaukee.

The Cavaliers don’t have a match during the week, but travel to Belleville, Ill., this weekend to face Southwestern Illinois,  Saturday, and Lewis & Clark, Sunday. They return home Wednesday, Sept. 12, to host Cowley in a KJCCC match.
