M. Basketball – Cavs down Cowley by 13

OVERLAND PARK, KS – The Cavaliers have had trouble this season finishing out games, but not Saturday afternoon against Cowley College. Johnson County (8-12, 3-5) handed the Tigers (15-5, 5-3) a 13-point loss, 73-60, and snapped their four-game losing streak.

Sophomore Justin Leathers proved why he is one of the top players in the East Jayhawk Conference, finishing with a game-high 25 points and 15 rebounds. Leathers hit 8-of-18 shots, including 3-of-4 3-pointers, and was 6-of-7 at the line. He also dished out three assists, had two blocks and a steal.

Sophomore guard Quasim Jones also came up big, making several acrobatic layups to finish with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting. He also hit two 3-pointers and had four assists.

Freshman Christian Hildebrandt added 11 points and four steals. Sophomore Melvin Turner was credited with nine points and five boards, and freshman Myles Hibler pulled down seven boards off the bench.

James Miliken led the Tigers with 17 points and seven rebounds.
