M. Basketball – Cavaliers snap five game skid

OVERLAND PARK, KS – The Johnson County Community College men’s basketball team was able to get back on a the left side of the column, posting a 60-48 road win over Wentworth Military Academy, Monday night in Lexington, Mo. The victory snapped JCCC’s five-game losing streak and improved the team’s season mark to 4-6. The Cavaliers open East Jayhawk Conference play this weekend at Highland Community College. 

Free throw shooting for Johnson County was key to this victory, particularly down the stretch. Leading 44-37 with five minutes remaining, the Cavaliers made 14 of its final 16 free throw attempts to pull away for the 12-point win. The team hit 28-of-36 for the game. Sophomore Christian Hildebrandt was perfect over that stretch, hitting all 10 of his attempts, and finished with a game-high 21 points.  He also had 10 rebounds. 

Two other Cavaliers finished with double-doubles on the night. Sophomore forward Tony Jones finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds, and sophomore forward Myles Hibler added 11 points and 11 boards.
