Fifteen JCCC athletes earn NJCAA academic honors

OVERLAND PARK, KS – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) recently released the names of student-athletes honored as 2011-12 Academic Student-Athlete award winners. Johnson County Community College had 15 athletes honored. 

The NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards were previously known as NJCAA Academic All-American honors. The NJCAA renamed its academic awards program two years ago to the following: 

  • NJCAA Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence (4.00 GPA on 4.00 scale)
  • NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement (3.80 to 3.99 on and 4.00 scale)
  • NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement (3.60 to 3.79 on a 4.00 scale) 

Of the 15 JCCC student-athletes to qualify, one earned the Pinnacle Award, seven earned the Superior Award and seven earned the Exemplary Award.  The following is the list of JCCC student-athletes honored:
