Get The Led Out brings back Led Zeppelin favorites
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – An East Coast band that captures the essence of your old Led Zeppelin albums and performs them live on stage will appear at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, in the Carlsen Center's Yardley Hall at Johnson County Community College.
Get The Led Out, based in Philadelphia, is a group of accomplished musicians who deliver "the mighty Zep's" blues-soaked, groove-driven rock anthems along with their intimate, sit-down acoustic sets. They are passionate about the music played by the British rock band between 1968 and 1980.
Tickets, which are $35 and $25, are available through the college box office at 913-469-4445 or online at jccc.edu/TheSeries.
The band came together about five years ago, lead vocalist Paul Sinclair said. The songs it performs are “the versions you know and love from the radio, which are all engrained in our brains,” he said.
The band plays the favorites such as Whole Lotta Love, Stairway to Heaven and
Babe I’m Gonna Leave You. But, with 80-some songs to choose from, the rest of the lineup can change nightly.
The band tours the country, drawing a diverse crowd.
“The age range of fans of Led Zeppelin is so great that at this point we say our audience is 8 to 80,” Sinclair said.
Sinclair has been performing on the East Coast for more than 20 years. He and his long-time friend and guitarist Paul Hammond started out together with a hard-rock band called Sinclair. They played numerous high-profile shows and shared the bill with such notable acts as Foghat, Zebra, Savoy Brown and BulletBoys. The two own Fat City Studios just outside Philadelphia.
Sinclair, who is 46, says he feels fortunate to have grown up when he did.
“Anyone in my age range or older went through this incredible age of music. It was such an amazing time. Creativity was at its peak with Aerosmith and Deep Purple. It just crossed over this entire spectrum with Black Sabbath and The (Rolling) Stones. They are all icons that we grew up with that are almost mythological characters.”
Obviously, Sinclair said, Robert Plant’s work has influenced his vocal stylings. Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler has been another big influence.
The other band members are Jimmy Marchiano, guitars and vocals; Billy Childs, bass guitar and vocals; Adam Ferraioli, drums and Andrew Lipke, keyboards. Diana DeSantis is the band’s special guest vocalist.
