Ruel Joyce recital at JCCC
Faculty from the Heartland Chamber Music Festival will present a special Ruel Joyce summer recital at noon Tuesday, Aug. 2, at Johnson County Community College.
Violinists Wei Wei Le and Chia Fei Lin, cellist Lawrence Figg, and pianist Chih-Long Hu will play an hour-long recital featuring music by Edvard Grieg and Moritz Moszkowski.
Le is an assistant professor in violin at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Both Lin and Figg are members of the Kansas City Symphony and popular recitalists in the area. Hu is on the faculty of East Tennessee State University. All have performed in festivals and recitals in the United States and internationally.
The recital in Carlsen Center’s Yardley Hall is free to the public. It is sponsored by the Ruel Joyce Recital Series, JCCC’s (PAS) Arts Education program and the Heartland Chamber Music Academy.
The Ruel Joyce Recital Series is named for a longtime jazz bassist who headed the local musicians’ federation from 1977 until his death in 1989.
