Authority on Native American art to speak

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- A curator of American Indian art with The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art will speak at 3:30 p.m. July 13 in the Hudson Auditorium at the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art.

The hour-long lecture by Gaylord Torrence is open to the public. No tickets or reservations are required.

Torrence is considered one of the nation’s leading authorities on Native American art. He is the Fred and Virginia Merrill Senior Curator of American Indian Art at the Nelson-Atkins museum and also a professor emeritus in fine arts at Drake University.
