JCCC hosts May concerts
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Johnson County Community College hosts five concerts in May. All concerts are free and open to the public in the Carlsen Center.
- May 3 — The JCCC Concert Band performs at 7:30 p.m. in Yardley Hall under the direction of instructor Clint Ashlock. The program lists works by Verdi, Copland, Grainger and others.
- May 4 — JCCC Jazz Night is at 7:30 p.m. in Polsky Theatre under the direction of instructor Clint Ashlock. The program includes arrangements of great jazz standards by Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane and Miles Davis.
- May 10 — The JCCC Chamber Choir and MadRegalia perform at 7:30 p.m. in Polsky Theatre, directed by Terri Teal, professor, vocal music. The program includes pieces by Diabelli, Cornelius, Bruckner, Elgar, Wilbye, Gastoldi, Brahms and new settings by adjunct professor of music Geoff Wilcken: Planted and an arrangement of Africa.
- May 15 — The Johnson County Chorus, a community chorus under the direction of Anita Cyrier, performs a program titled Timeless at 3 p.m. in Yardley Hall.
- May 21 — The Brown & Gold club of JCCC presents the Moonlight Serenade Orchestra at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, in Yardley Hall. A reception begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Carlsen Center lobby.
