Exercise and Cognitive Function
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Dr. Tony Zink will present Exercise and Cognitive Function … Training for the Brain from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, in room 211 of the Carlsen Center, Johnson County Community College. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Zink will address the effects of aerobic exercise and how it improves cognitive function and slows the decline of natural aging.
He will discuss neurochemical effects of exercise, recent literature that demonstrates the positive effects of aerobic exercise and how to recognize symptoms of functional decline.
Zink graduated from medical school at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, Ga., followed by a fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. He is board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine with a subspecialty in cardiovascular disease.
