Adult Education Volunteer Orientation
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – An orientation for new Johnson County Adult Education volunteers will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, in room 234 of the Carlsen Center at Johnson County Community College.
Johnson County Adult Education, sponsored by JCCC and Johnson County Library, provides classes and individualized instruction to help undereducated adults improve academic skills. Volunteer tutors are needed to help adult students improve reading, writing and math skills; prepare for the GED test; or learn English as a second language.
Classes are held in six locations throughout Johnson County. Volunteers tutor for two or three hours one morning or evening each week for a minimum of six months. They work under the direction of a professional instructor assisting students with the curriculum that is provided.
If you would like to attend, please call 913-469-2323 and register for the Aug. 14 literacy volunteer orientation.
Contact Chris Specht, Johnson County Adult Education volunteer coordinator, at 913-469-3003 for more information.
