Baseball – Ridenhour ranked 9th best prospect in the country

OVERLAND PARK, KS – Johnson County Community College sophomore pitcher Lee Ridenhour has been named as one of the top 100 junior college prospects by Perfect Game USA, baseball’s largest and most comprehensive scouting service. Ridenhour was selected the No. 9 overall prospect in junior college baseball, and the No. 1 prospect in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference.  This the second straight year a JCCC player has been a top 10 prospect. Last year, right-hander Jeff Soptic was the No. 5 overall prospect. He was drafted in the third round by the Chicago White Sox and signed to play professionally.

Ridenhour is projected to be a key performer for Johnson County this spring, both on the mound and at the plate. Formerly of Shawnee Mission West, Ridenhour began his collegiate career at the University of Kansas in 2009. He appeared in 17 games, making 14 starts on the mound. He posted a 6-3 record with a 5.65 ERA in 79.1 innings of work. His six wins were the most by Jayhawk pitcher since 1994.  Ridenhour sat out the 2010 season taking a medical hardship.
