OVERLAND PARK, KS – Johnson County Community College women’s soccer assistant coach Wendy Louque has been selected the Junior College Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Louque is one of four coaches from across the country that has been selected for this award. The Regional Assistant Coach of the Year award will be presented the NSCAA Convention in Kansas City, Jan. 12, 2012. As a regional selection, Louque is one of four finalists for the National Junior College Assistant Coach of the Year award. That award will be announced on Jan. 13, 2012 at the awards banquet that evening.
Louque, who recently completed her 10th season as the top assistant coach for Jim Schwab, helped lead the Lady Cavaliers finish 14-5-2 and reach the semifinals of the NJCAA Region VI Tournament. Johnson County also had five individuals earn all-conference and four were selected to the All-Region VI team.
In her 10 seasons with JCCC, Louque has helped coach the team to a NJCAA Division I runner-up finish, a District championship, five Region VI championships, two runner-up finishes and four top-15 rankings at the end of the season. During that span, Johnson County has produced a record of 160-43-10, good for a .775 winning percentage. Additionally, 45 athletes have been named All-Region VI, 52 have been selected as All-Kansas Jayhawk Conference performers, seven have earned NJCAA All-American, three have been selected NSCAA All-American, three have been selected NJCAA All-Tournament and four have garnered NJCAA Academic All-America accolades.
