Lockwood earns two All-America honors

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Jordan Lockwood, a sophomore outside hitter for the Johnson County Community College volleyball team, recently was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America teams. Lockwood, a native of Silver Lake, Kan., was selected to the first-team by the NJCAA for Division II, and was a second-team pick by the AVCA. The AVCA team includes athletes from D-I, D-II and California community colleges. Lockwood was also selected to the NJCAA D-II National All-Tournament Team, and was a first-team All-East Jayhawk Conference and All-Region VI/District N performer.
 
This season, Lockwood led JCCC with 449 kills and an a attack percentage of .235. She is just the fifth player in team history to register over 400 kills in a season. Lockwood finished 13h in the country with a kills-per-set ratio of 3.65. She registered 26 matches where she finished with double figures in kills. She also had 19 double figure dig matches, and a total of 17 double-doubles.

"Jordan was a team captain this year and really pushed her teammates everyday in many aspects in the classroom, court and weight room," said JCCC head coach Jennifer Ei. "She was a huge threat offensively with her versatility as a hitter. She was able to hit some many different sets and from different locations."
 
A two-time All-East Jayhawk and All-Region VI/District selection, Lockwood leaves JCCC ranked third on both JCCC's season and career kill charts with 449 and 730 respectively. She also ranks tied for 16th with 71 career aces, and her 554 career digs rank among the top 15 in team history.
 
During her two seasons, Lockwood helped the JCCC volleyball team to a 57-13 record, two region/district titles and two NJCAA Tournament berths with resulted in a runner-up finish in 2008 and a sixth place finish this season.
