Register now for the fifth annual Start2Finish 5K Run-Walk, sponsored by the University of Kansas Edwards Campus and Johnson County Community College. The race will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at JCCC.
Due to road construction, this year’s race will circle the JCCC campus, starting and finishing near the JCCC Fieldhouse.
Race proceeds will go toward scholarships for JCCC students who continue their education at KU Edwards Campus through Start2Finish, an educational partnership between the two institutions. Through the first four years, the event has raised more than $50,000 for scholarships.
Race day schedule:
- 6-6:30 a.m. - Race-day registration at the JCCC Fieldhouse
- 7 a.m. - 5K run-walk
- 8 a.m. - Free short-distance race for kids ages 2 to 9
- 8:30 a.m. - Course closes, medals awarded (top three winners in each five-year age category, plus top overall male and female and the top masters male and female)
- 7:30 to 9 a.m. - Post-run activities
Event amenities include a T-shirt for all runners, free food, water and misting stations along the race course and a gift for all race finishers.
Cost of the certified 5k race is $22 online through July 20 or at packet pick-up on July 20. Those registering online will pay an additional $3 convenience fee. The cost is $28 on race day. Runners who register with a friend receive a special buddy discount.
Packet pick-up will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 20, at Garry Gribbles Running Sports, 119th Street and Quivira Road, or at the JCCC Fieldhouse on race day.
Garmin is a presenting sponsor of the race. Gold-level sponsors include JE Dunn Construction Company and Fire Engine Design Studio. Silver-level sponsors are Trozzolo Communications Group and Menorah Medical Center.
