Performing arts classes at JCCC
JCCC offers a full range of credit classes in music and theatre. A distinguished group of faculty artists share their love for their art with their students in fully equipped music rooms and theatres.
The academic theatre program produces several plays each year, ranging from musical theatre and children’s theatre, to contemporary and classical work. The department provides a variety of roles and technical work for students and community members and offers ample theatre scholarships to degree-seeking students. Recent productions include Into the Woods, The Rocky Horror Show, Twelfth Night and Proof.
JCCC’s music program offers students, in addition to courses in music history and theory, the opportunity to compose, study and perform music as part of a choral group or concert or jazz band. The choral and instrumental groups perform several times a year at the college, at community events, and travel to various concert venues and festivals. The music program also sponsors guest artists and ensembles throughout the year. Private lessons are also offered.
In addition, JCCC’s digital music program is equipped with the latest computer hardware and software to enable the novice and the experienced musician alike to explore the craft of digital musical composition and recording.
