Learn entrepreneurship
At JCCC, you can learn how to go into business for yourself as an entrepreneur. The small business sector is one of the fastest growing in the nation’s economy. Many people in Johnson County either work for a small business or plan to start their own.
JCCC’s entrepreneurship program, offered for college credit, can help prospective entrepreneurs launch new ventures. Entrepreneurs who already have established businesses can strengthen their managerial and business skills, while prospective entrepreneurs can learn the fundamentals of starting and operating their own businesses. Students also complete internships in small businesses, applying what they learn in the classroom to their jobs and taking their work experiences back to the classroom for analysis.
JCCC offers an associate of applied science degree in entrepreneurship. The 64-credit-hour program includes classes in opportunity recognition and analysis, financial management, legal issues, marketing and business planning for small businesses.
A 30-credit-hour entrepreneurship certificate program covers basic business skills as well as specific courses in starting and managing an entrepreneurial venture.
A 7-credit-hour entrepreneurship business plan certificate program helps you focus on entrepreneurship as a career choice, evaluating an idea for business, and writing a business plan to start or grow a business. The program can be completed in as little as one semester.
In addition, JCCC offers 24 program-specific entrepreneurship certificates, where you can combine what you learn in a particular field with knowledge of small business development and management. Program-specific certificate programs are:
