Student Ambassador Michael Luchen

JCCC student ambassador Michael Luchen is on his way to the future he’s always dreamed of.  Luchen, a Blue Valley High School graduate, has always wanted to run his own IT company.  After graduating high school, he came to JCCC to start acquiring the skills he needs to reach his goals, working towards a business administration degree, focusing on entrepreneurship.

As a student ambassador, Luchen sharpens interpersonal communication skills while giving campus tours and telling prospective students all the reasons to attend JCCC.  “I am really focused on consistently improving my communication skills, since I know I will need them for the field of work I wish to go into, and I love being able to help promote the best local community college around,” he said.

Luchen plans on attending the University of Kansas after finishing his studies at JCCC, but enjoys taking advantage of the lower tuition rates and class sizes here. “I chose this community college for its outstanding reputation in the community and beyond,” he said. “I traveled to Illinois over spring break last year and was surprised when a University of Illinois professor talked so highly of JCCC.  It is a great school!”

One of the best skills Luchen has acquired during his time at JCCC is time management. “When I entered JCCC last fall, I knew how important college is,” he said. “Time management and organization skills that I develop at JCCC will follow me to KU and then into the workforce. It is crucial to have time management skills in the business world, especially if I am going to run my own business.”
