Learn HVAC
Homes and businesses depend on service technicians trained at JCCC who install and maintain the heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment that keeps rooms cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
JCCC offers both an associate's degree and several certificates in residential and commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning. In JCCC's programs, you have the opportunity to work on actual equipment. Graduates of programs that emphasize hands-on experience have a definite advantage when seeking employment in the field.
The college offers two 64-credit-hour associate of applied science degree programs - one in commercial service and the other in residential service. In both programs, students focus on developing basic mathematical and scientific principles and the manner by which these principles affect the control of temperature and the quality of air, design, testing, installation and development of heating and cooling systems.
The commercial service degree covers the theory of operation as well as the installation, service and repair of rooftop air conditioners, cooling towers, steam boilers and commercial systems as well as energy conservation through computer management. Those who select the residential service degree learn the theory of operation as well as installation, duct design, service and repair of gas and electric furnaces, heat pumps and central air conditioners.
The certificate programs are designed to prepare you for the basic job skills needed to service and maintain heating and air conditioning equipment. Several options are available:
