Learn interior design at JCCC
JCCC's interior design program prepares you for a number of opportunities in the field. The program is recognized by the National Kitchen and Bath Association as an NKBA-accredited program.
Three 68-credit-hour associate of applied science degree options - interior design, interior merchandising and interior entrepreneurship - teach design, retail and business proprietorship skills. JCCC's program offers courses in interior materials and resources, professional selling, business management, manual and CAD drafting, and product presentation, combined with a basic curriculum of business math, English and art history. Two required internships help develop technical, creative and business skills. Interior design faculty have worked in the field, which equips them to offer valuable first-hand knowledge of what it takes to succeed.
Several certificate programs are also available if you need skills for immediate employment or want a broader knowledge base for your current job.
- A 17-credit-hour interior products sales representative certificate is for students employed in or seeking positions in the interior design retail market.
- A 30-credit-hour interior design and merchandising entrepreneurship certificate prepares you to open your own interior design or merchandising service or retail business. This certificate is designed to provide you with basic skills in interior merchandising and design as well as the basic skills in small business development and management.
- A 30-credit-hour interior design retail sales/manufacturers representative certificate is for those employed in or seeking positions in the retail or wholesale interior design market.
In addition, a 21-credit-hour interior design advanced certificate is for those who wish to be certified or registered interior designers. You must have already completed the interior design AAS degree. The interior design advanced certificate offers classes needed to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification exam.
