Learn graphic design

JCCC's graphic design program prepares you to work in the professions of design and advertising. The program encompasses the thoughts and ideas of a global worldview, intellectual rigor, the ability to solve problems and think critically while meeting the standards set by the graphic design profession to inspire, inform, serve and communicate meaningfully in the world.

The graphic design profession is highly competitive and requires above-average problem-solving, design and typography skills. Opportunities for those with an associate's degree range from entry-level production design to creative director positions in design firms and advertising agencies, printers and Web-development companies, small business and corporate in-house marketing departments, among others. Portfolios containing well-considered and inspiring professional design are key to obtaining a position in the field, and JCCC has structured its graphic design program to help you develop a high level of work using a wide range of competitive skills.

Every semester, the portfolio you develop will be analyzed by creative professionals. The feedback you receive, together with regular faculty and student critiques, will help develop and strengthen your skills in effective visual communication.

The curriculum consists of 71 credit hours that lead to an associate of applied science degree. Instruction is provided by an experienced, dedicated and passionate faculty committed to developing students' knowledge and skill in design and typography, creative problem-solving, and the use of materials, processes, tools and equipment. State-of-the-art studios and computer equipment are provided in support of this goal.
